Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 1 John 2:15-16

I travel a lot. I always appreciate the beauty of this world as I pass one beautiful scene after another. I know it’s all ruined by sin, but it’s a testament to God’s original work that so much beauty shines through!
Still, I despair of all the news stories that trumpet foolishness as wisdom and tell countless tales of man’s cruelty to man. My own health is not what it once was as my genetics finally have their way despite my best efforts.
Like St. Paul, I long to be with God in eternity. I weary of this “earthly tent” of sinful flesh and long to be perfectly clothed in a new, perfect body as I spend eternity with God.
I appreciate the things of this world. God has blessed me! Do I love them? No! I will be glad to move on to eternity with God!
