Quote for 11/27/2021

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.    Romans 12:1

Offerings.  We’re often reminded to give money to the church in proportion to our income.  We are not reminded as often to offer ourselves.

When you have the urge to say something nasty, check yourself and say something more temperate and helpful.  When you have the opportunity and urge to drink alcohol excessively, refrain.  Leave it at one drink or maybe just a soft drink.

The point is to offer your body and all it does as a sacrifice to God.  He made us, and we should be careful with that gift, always using it for His purposes.  We certainly should not abuse it!

See it this way; if a friend gave you an exceptional car, would you take care of it?  When you go to pick him or her up to go out, would you have cleaned it first or just show up in a muddy mess with garbage littered inside.

I should think we’d all want to go “pick up” God in a pristine vehicle – our bodies – when we go out into the world to have some fun.  God’s way.
