And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.   John 1:14

John 1 is my favorite part of the Bible. I can almost feel the first mists of Creation as matter came out of nothing and the universe began to form as the Word went about the work of Creation.

After all the work was done, after the required time was past, He left the heavenly realm of God, came to earth, and was born as a Person; mere flesh and blood. Not everyone saw His glory. Some even asked rhetorically if anything good come out of Nazareth. But those who followed, watched, and listened with their hearts saw His glory.

They didn’t see His glory with their eyes, but with their souls. They didn’t bask in the light of His power, but in the warmth of His words. Those words had power, comfort, and eye-watering clarity for those who listened with the ears of faith that only God can give.

They were words of grace. They were words of truth. They were the words of God Himself, delivered by His only begotten Son, Jesus.
