Human-Pig Hybrid??

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!    Isaiah 5:20

Last May I wrote an article about scientists trying to combine DNA from different species into one animal. Such animals are called chimeras after a mythical beast.  They were looking at adding human DNA to pigs to produce human organs in pigs for transplants.  See Animal Human Cross Breeding.  Unfortunately, there are a LOT of pitfalls in the execution of this new DNA manipulation, not the least of which could be DNA not cooperating by producing a human brain instead of a human liver. Then what do you do?  Keep it alive, because it’s mentally human or quickly dispose of it, because it doesn’t look human and who will know?  I can only imagine them consulting with Planned Parenthood.

Today there’s another article about this continuing project in the London Express;

They’ve announced that a real human-pig embryo has been “injected into a sow’s womb.” “They” are the Salk Institute in California (of course).  One sentence that was just slid by is “The human cells which worked best with the pigs’ were infant ones which have the potential to develop into all adult cell types – known as a pluripotent cell.” The writer jumped right from there to the next paragraph about how the resulting embryos were injected into a sow.

QUESTION: Where did they get the human infant cells? Who didn’t get to see the light of day as a developed human being before those cells were harvested?  Was it from a human embryo?  What do they mean by “infant ones” in the first place?

They let the human-pig embryo grow for a month, then remove and dissect it to see how things appear to be developing compared to plan.

Lead author of the research, Izpisua Belmonte, told Futurism: “This is long enough for us to try to understand how the human and pig cells mix together early on without raising ethical concerns about mature chimeric animals.”

Apparently, his ethics are about what it looks like, not what it is. This fits right in with the abortion mentality.  “It’s in the womb.  We can’t see it.  It’s an embryo, not a human being.”

People don’t want to die. I get that.  I really, really do.  I’ve come close to dying three times, so I know how it feels to be in true jeopardy.  After all of that, if my choice was to either limp along to the grave or get a new pig-hosted heart, I’d just limp along.

I don’t want the blood of all of the aborted, genetic half-breeds that were killed to produce it on me. The Nephilim of the Old Testament were the result of angels mating with women, and that didn’t work out well at all.  God takes a very dim view of people tinkering with his creation.  I want no part of it in this era.

The thing we need to face up to is death. It’s going to happen.  After that, as a follower of Jesus, I know that I’m going to spend eternity with Him.  I’ll have a perfect body.  So will all others who threw themselves on His mercy and accepted His free gift of salvation from our sins.

I understand wanting to extend earthly years. I’ve worked to take care of the body I have to stay here with friends and family as long as possible.  There are just some things I won’t do, because I don’t think they are worth the moral risk.  Have I possibly crossed a moral line so far in my medical care?  It’s possible, but not deliberate.

What’s really important is how we spend eternity, not how many years we get on earth. I think there’s a quote in Proverbs to the effect that he who increases years increases sorrows.  There are good time, but there are also bad times.  There are injuries I’ve received from others that I wish I had never experienced.  I am still grieved by a few.

I’m not suicidal; far from it! But I make my choices based on my eternity.  If you truly want to preserve your life, don’t try to just solve the short term problem of physical death.  Take the long term view and guarantee your eternal life!
