“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12
We can’t see the devil or his demons, but we can see his foot tracks. We know he’s around and growing stronger at this time.
I used think how lucky we all were to live in America. No wars, no strife, high standard of living, no persecutions, and plenty more. We are no longer a great nation. Satan’s demons and his people have seen to that. Christians now face persecution, albeit not at the levels of other places in the world. That will, happen though. And I was wrong to feel that I lived in a such a blessed country, a place where those things didn’t touch us. I was, oh, so wrong! The fruits of today were the seeds planted when I and many others felt so safe.
We waited for the footprints to become unmistakable, and then it was too late. We didn’t watch as Christ commanded. Not only did the watchmen on the wall not sound the alarm, they were absent.
Exorcisms are on the rise, and I don’t mean elsewhere. That’s the headline for this article: http://www.kivitv.com/news/exorcism-calls-on-the-rise-in-idaho
“As Idaho’s population grows, there has been an influx of new construction, new restaurants, and oddly enough, and increased amount of calls for exorcisms.” Oddly Enough?
“Jeff Mason (exorcism expert and founder of Apparitions Paranormal Investigations) explained, ‘We actually had the entity identify itself as a demon attached to a resident of one exorcism.’”
“You step into the Third World and it’s definitely a ‘We’re not in Kansas’ anymore moment,’” Freeman explained. “To assume our way of viewing reality as the only way is to limit ourselves.”
People are more willing to dabble in Occult and spiritual practices. They want something – fame, fortune – and they haven’t succeeded on their own efforts, so “What the heck? Let’s give it a whirl.” We’re in the age of self as god. My interests and desires of more important than the next person, goes the reasoning. It’s all about me!
No one learned that “dabbling” doesn’t exist in the devil’s world. We kicked God out a while ago, so there has been no warning.
“The rise in demonic cases is a result of more people dabbling in practices such as black magic, paganism, Satanic rites and Ouija boards, often exploring the dark arts with the help of information readily found on the internet, the Church said.”
Betcha can’t eat just one…
I saw a documentary of an individual whose music career was going nowhere. He answered a Craigslist ad looking for people who would sell their soul for their wildest dreams. He applied and became the “winner” whose journey to the dark side was chronicled.
He was enthusiastic at first. As the denouement approached, however, he related that he had felt a dark force and was growing frightened.
“But I have to go through with it now. I’ve come too far, right?”
“NO, YOU HAVEN’T!” I yelled at the TV.
He went ahead with the final rite. All his goals were realized as he forgot about the cost.
I’ve read stories of very famous, successful people who have done the same. Why the huge entourages you always see them travel with? It’s for the same reason they reportedly don’t have mirrors in their houses – the demons come to them in mirrors and other ways. They are terrified to be alone.
No, we fight “…against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness…”
We can’t see them, but we can see their footprints. They are the real, yet unseen threat to us and our world. Through the power of Christ we will overcome. But, before it is too late, “…for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.” Matthew 24:22
Keep the faith. Stay in the Word. And watch.
