“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.” Philippians 3:20-21
I am a reader of war histories, specifically WWII. I also read books on SEALS, and I’m a big Tom Clancy fan. I’ve had friends and relatives in the army and navy. My dad was a messenger in WWII in France.
Some of the most interesting reading is about Operators. Groups like the Rangers, Seals, Delta, etc. It’s amazing what those guys can do with the training and equipment they have.
They have their own lingo from era to era, from unit to unit. When an operation is due to start, they “gear up” with body armor, go-bags, extra ammunition, and whatever else they need for that particular mission. In one account I’m reading now, the guys called it “Jocking Up.”
“Feet wet” = flying over water. “Feet dry” = getting back over land. “Exfil” = Get the he!! Out of Dodge.
When going into hostile territory, some refer to it as going into Indian Country. Others call it Zombie Land. It’s a scary place to be, whatever you decide to call it, and wherever it is.
The longer I live, the more ka-ka I see going on around us, the more convinced I am that we are in Zombie Land. In fact, we always have been. I’m talking about right here in the USA. Read some histories; we’ve got a history that doesn’t always bear very close scrutiny. Going back to WWII and before, the infiltration of our government by foreign elements, seemingly with the knowledge and even assistance of highly placed US officials, has been ongoing. One reason we are seeing the decay of the America we once knew is that there has been enough infiltration that it’s reached a critical mass. Things are snow-balling (not operator slang!).
Mind you, I’m a patriot. I love our flag, I love a lot of things that we’ve done in decades past. I’m proud of our accomplishments, especially in both World Wars.
But we’re in Zombie Land. The world is Satan’s playground for a limited time, and we are vulnerable to his predation. I believe Americans have had a false sense of security for far too long. We’ve never had a war on the continent save The War for Independence and Civil War. We’ve relaxed too much over the years and become complacent in our lives and our faith. There’s a war going on all around us. We can’t see the angels and demons engaged, but they are here. With you and me. Right now.
They battle over our protection, our lives, and our souls. Why does God talk about giving His angels charge over us? Well, He does! All of us. That just doesn’t mean we’re automatically safe. No, the devil prowls like a roaring looking for those he can devour.
But we blithely go to church on Sunday…maybe. We know the bible stories. We might even hit a Lenten service or two midweek. That won’t do it, friends! We need to Jock Up with God’s Word. Know the whole thing, not just the stories from our childhood.
We know David killed Goliath. Did he kill any other giants? If so, how many? Who was King Og? See 2 Samuel 21.
Some debate whether Israel is still important past bible days. We have no need to befriend them, right? Are you sure? See Isaiah 60, which describes Israel’s ultimate status.
What are the signs of the end times? Do you know where to find them? You may have thought Revelations, and that is one correct answer. Try Matthew 24.
What days in the Old Testament will be recalled at the end? Also Matthew 24 and Luke 17 too.
Why the emphasis on end times? Back to Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour[f] your Lord is coming.”
God told us to watch. That means doing more than just going to church on the odd Sunday. We must know what’s going on in the world that Scripture says to watch for. We need to Jock Up. How does a Christian do that, anyway?
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[c] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:10-13
We are in Zombie Land. It’s time to Jock Up if you haven’t already. There are visible and invisible forces trying to prevent us from being forever with Jesus. The Calvary is coming for our Exfil. Keep watch so you’re ready when they come storming in to save the day!
